Estimated CBAM Benchmarks 2026

We are grateful for the interest received following the publication of the Estimated Benchmarks.

There is clear and growing demandfor these figures from across the market — including steel traders, CBAM platforms, and risk & compliance firms.

This dataset offers an estimate of CBAM benchmark values for 2026, based on the most recent ETS benchmarks available (valid through 2025). Historical trends in ETS data were analysed to identify expected developments in carbon intensity, with consideration for technological progress and evolving production practices.

Where relevant, ETS benchmarks were matched to corresponding CBAM CN codes. For product groups without direct ETS data, estimates were generated using standard statistical approaches.

When we tested our formula against the expected benchmarks, the results aligned closely. While we’re confident in the quality of the calculations, IACBAM considers these values indicative — intended to assist in cost forecasting and supplier dialogue.

The easiest way to access the benchmark is by becoming an IACBAM associate. This gives you support on CBAM — especially in the areas where EU guidance still leaves gaps.
