The Climate Change Presidency continued its series of Green Transition and CBAM consultation meetings in Mardin, Turkey, focusing on the National Taxonomy, ETS, and preparing industrialists for EU regulations.

Under the coordination of the Climate Change Presidency, Green Transition and CBAM information and consultation meetings were held in Mardin.

Held at the Mardin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the meeting aimed to increase the awareness and capacity of our country's industrialists regarding Green Transition and CBAM within the scope of combating climate change. During the meeting, the topics of "Green Transition and CBAM" and "National Taxonomy, Green Transition in Industry, and Green Transition Finance Instruments" were discussed in dedicated sessions.

At the meeting, which featured an opening speech by Climate Change Vice President Mehrali Ecer, the panelists thoroughly examined topics including "Green Transition in Industry, Financial Instruments, and Taxonomy," "National Green Taxonomy," "Green Transition in Industry," "Green Transition Financing," "Green Transition and CBAM," "Our Country's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring, Reporting and Verification System," "CBAM," and "The Relationship between ETS and CBAM."

Speaking during the opening remarks, Vice President Ecer stated his belief that the Emission Trading System will operate as a powerful mechanism contributing to the 2053 net-zero emission and green transition targets, noting that the work continues without slowing down.

In his speech, Vice President Ecer said, "We aim for the Turkish Green Taxonomy to be a tool that provides confidence to investors and protects them from greenwashing, while supporting companies in directing their investments to the areas where they are most needed."

Furthermore, Ecer emphasized the importance of using the taxonomy to ensure that the financial resources necessary to realize the green transition in Turkey meet with green investments.

The Green Taxonomy creates a list of environmentally sustainable economic activities, defining for companies, investors, and policymakers which economic activities can be considered environmentally sustainable and under what conditions. Thus, it aims to direct financing toward genuinely sustainable investments.

The information meetings, which were previously held in the provinces of Eskişehir, Denizli, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Konya, İzmir, Kayseri, Mersin, Adana, Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Uşak, Aydın, and Bursa, continued in Mardin.
